-from Tamara, of Team Trojan Squash
Good morning,
I have the most bizarre and tragic news....
Last night, I asked my next-door neighbor (who also happens to be my landlord) to take a photo of me with my Trojan Squash and he said "Sure, no problem". Then he asked me what the photo was for and I started explaining him the details of our pumpkin growing contest and that there would be a prize at the end for the winner. He looked at me rather sadly and confessed that while I was in Cyprus last week, he thought my plant had died and replaced it with another before I returned so that I wouldn't feel bad when I returned from my trip. He didn't realize that we had a contest going on and didn't even know what kind of plant it was that I was growing, but replaced it with something that had similar leaves!!!!!
So, I have been disqualified and now have an unknown plant growing in my big terra cotta pot in the hallway.....
I figure my Trojan Squash must have either not liked the vegetable fertilizer that I gave it before I left for Cyprus, might not have had enough water (or too much?) or was sad about being kept indoors instead of outdoors without enough sun exposure. Either way, I am sad, but I almost feel cheated by my neighbor (who was only trying to do something nice for me, actually). What a bummer... I can still serve as a cheerleader for the others in their triumph.
Devastated,
Tamara
Well, weep NOT Tamara! I have an extra plant who will love to be adopted by you! He's a real fighter–I thought we had lost him when we transplanted him rather late and then he got some bugs but he has persevered and is coming into his own! So, you have some good plant mo-jo in this one and he will do make you proud! And PS, your landlord sounds really sweet.

I will pitch in tomorrow and make the delivery of the plant from Anita to Tamara so the contest can keep on going!
